Page 1An oyster sits on the ocean floor. Still and quiet. It doesn't swim. It doesn't crawl. It just opens and closes. Filtering water. Eating tiny bits.
Page 2One day, something small drifts in. A grain of sand. Tiny and sharp. It slips between the oyster's shells. It sticks to the soft body.
Page 3The grain of sand bothers the oyster. Like a pebble in your shoe. It irritates. It scratches. It stings. The oyster cannot push it out. It cannot brush it away.
