Page 1Down on the seafloor sits a plain, rough shell. It is gray and bumpy, closed up tight. You would walk right past it. But inside, in the dark, a secret is growing.
Page 2What lives inside that quiet shell? A soft little animal called an oyster, resting between its two hard shells.
Page 3The soft part that hugs the inside of the shell is called the mantle. The mantle is smooth, and always a little bit busy.
