Page 1High in the Andes Mountains, on a steep and narrow ridge, the Inca built an entire city out of stone. They had no bulldozers, no cranes, and no trucks.
Page 2The mountain was so steep that rain could wash the whole hillside away. Before the Inca could build anything, they had to solve that problem first.
Page 3Their answer was the terrace: a flat step of land held up by a thick stone wall. Row after row of terraces turned the dangerous slope into a giant staircase.
