Page 1Mateo is ten. His ears notice every sound — the buzz of a fridge, the tap of rain on glass. He carries a quiet kit: paper, crayons, a small notebook, and smooth stones.
Page 2Mateo doesn’t draw maps with roads and names. He makes texture rubbings: rough bark, cool metal benches, bumpy cobblestones.
Page 3He sniffs the air and writes tiny scent notes: 'wet soil by Mrs. Chen’s gate', 'cinnamon from the bakery', 'ozone before thunder'.
